Does our charity need an app?

Not always. An app is only as good as the idea behind it, and a ‘vanity app’ that few people download can be costly and embarrassing. Today, a mobile-friendly website can do much the same job. We’ll help you decide whether an app is the right answer for your charity, or whether your website could do the job better.

What’s the difference between a native app and a Progressive Web App?

Native apps are built separately for iOS and Android and deployed to their respective stores. That means they’re fast and have full access to a device’s features, but you usually pay to build them twice. Progressive Web Apps use web technologies to work on all devices from a single build, which is often much more affordable. We build PWAs in-house and use trusted partners for native apps.

How do you make sure people actually use the app?

A place on someone’s phone has to be earned continuously, or the app gets deleted. That’s why we start with user research to make sure the app meets a genuine need, then test prototypes with real users before we build. We’ll also help you to build your audience, so that when the app launches, people will be ready to use it. 

How does the process work?

It’s similar to building a website. We begin with discovery and user research, move into UX and UI design, then build in agile stages so you can see progress and give feedback. Once the app has been thoroughly tested, we manage its release.
