What makes a healthcare website different?

Many visitors arrive worried, unwell or in crisis, so the experience needs to be calm, clear and reassuring. Information must be accurate, easy to navigate and accessible. And health organisations often serve very different audiences, from patients and carers to clinicians and supporters, each needing a different journey through the same site.

Yes. People often visit health websites in moments of distress. Simplifying navigation, enhancing usability, personalising content, and implementing cutting-edge technology can all help people find support quickly.

Do health websites need to meet accessibility regulations?

NHS and other public sector health websites are generally covered by the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018. For all health organisations, the Equality Act 2010 requires reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which includes digital services. We design and build to WCAG AA or AAA as standard.
